Here at DKOR, creating relaxing, personalized spaces for our clients to feel at ease is always a top priority. In our most recent Miami house design project, we tapped into this feeling of serenity with a holistic theme centered around a Japanese zen garden.
The stunning property, a newly constructed 5,200-square-foot Miami house on Bay Point Road was developed in collaboration with Praxis Architecture.
Melding geometric symmetry with contrasting hues, each room in this Miami house flows from one to the next. The organic, neutral color palette complements the beauty of the surroundings while also allowing the rich textures, clean glass, and warm wood inside the home to shine.
Let’s take a look at the common areas of this airy, peaceful Miami house, designed with care for our clients and their children.
COMMON AREAS INTERIOR DESIGNS
Entry Foyer
As you step into the foyer, the spaciousness, liberal use of wood, and artful accents make an immediate impression. Our goal was to include all the elements of a zen garden into this entryway to set the tone for the rest of the home.
The light wood creates a clean and organic backdrop for this open-plan foyer. Additionally, the natural grain and positioning of the planks creates a layer of texture and interest that keeps it from feeling monotonous.
Living Room
As the heart of this home, the living room is a timeless and versatile space for our clients and their two children to come together to watch TV, read, or enjoy a coffee. The combination of natural stone elements with the distinctive grid-like built-in shelving creates a relaxing, yet personal space for gathering. It’s the embodiment of ‘luxe casual’ with a design that feels elevated without being stuffy. Click here to explore more of this tranquil living room!
Dining Room
Sharing in the same large space as the living room, the striking dining area fosters a communal atmosphere for our clients to dine. The ten cushioned dining chairs coordinate with the living room sofas, contributing to the seamless flow of the space. Two intersecting pendant lights hang above the large table, adding an artistic touch. This is framed by the beautiful marble inlay, which is illuminated by LED.
Hallway to the Kitchen
Continuing the journey through this home, you’ll come across this peaceful hallway leading to the kitchen. From this perspective, the striking contrast between the dark gray wood on one side and white on the other is clear. The light wood flooring harmonizes the contrasting tones.
You’ll also notice that the space is filled with rectangular geometry that is softened by the family’s artwork and treasures. We made sure to add personal touches to each room to make it feel like home.
Kitchen
Next is the minimalist kitchen. With its sleek surfaces and neutral color palette, it is the perfect place to cook in peace. The large island, designed to seat five like a bar, provides a spot for the family to gather for a quick meal if they’re not in the dining room.
The shelving offers a mix of concealed and open options, ideal for hiding appliances while displaying artwork. The trio of wire-framed pendant lights serve as striking accent pieces in this uncluttered space.
View from the Kitchen to the Living Room
From this perspective, you can truly appreciate the size of the rooms and observe the flow from one to the next. The marble shelving inlay adds a striking and luxurious element. However, the consistent grid-like lines throughout the rooms create another equally exciting point of focus, reminiscent of a chessboard with its black and white squares.
Outdoor Patio
The final common area, and perhaps the most exciting, is the outdoor patio. It mirrors the indoor space with both a living and dining section. The seating area features cozy chairs, a coffee table, and pillows, while the dining area includes a spacious table and chairs, much like the interior. The wood paneling on the ceiling aligns perfectly with the lines of the carpet below.
When hosting guests, the family can open the large patio doors to create a flow between the interiors and the outdoor space. It’s the perfect way to make the most of the incredible weather in Miami.
Thank you for taking this tour of the common rooms with us! We hope you are feeling inspired. Stay tuned as we plan to reveal more rooms from this zen garden-inspired Miami house. In the meantime, feel free to contact us if you need assistance with a Miami home design of your own!
